The Sea Scout Base is situated on the banks
of Sandvlei, at the bottom of Promenade Road in Sandvlei, Lakeside, Cape
Town. It is close to the beautiful mountains and beaches of
Muizenberg and close to public transport. The Metrorail train
service takes approximately 40 minutes to get from Lakeside station to Cape
Town. The freeway to Cape Town is also close by.
There are various shopping complexes nearby, the biggest being The Blue
Route Mall, which also houses 6 cinemas as well as all the major retail
chain stores.
The Base offers ideal camping facilities,
especially for Guide Companies and Scout Troops visiting from around the
country or overseas.
The base has bunkhouse and camping areas for
pitching tents, as well as ablution facilities for boys and girls.
The base is home to the Sea Scout Groups in
the Western Cape, who have their own boatsheds in the complex.
